Citrine & Glass Owls Knitting Stitch Marker Necklace on Hand Dyed Habotai Silk Ribbon

*You will get exactly the necklace as shown. This combination of colouration of Owl beads (I only have 4 beads in this colour), Citrine bead and the hand painting on the Silk ribbon means that this necklace is unique and one-of-a-kind*

Especially made for “Top Down” knitters, but can equally be worn simply as a charm style necklace with the ability to add or take away new beads/charms. Made for 7mm or smaller needles.

Citrine bead and glass Owls on hand dyed/painted Habotai Silk ribbon, with silver plated metals. The round bead is natural Citrine and the Owls are high quality Czech glass (also known as Bohemian glass) pressed/moulded beads with a patina coating

✩Size (all measurements are approximate)✩

  • Overall pendant length- 56mm
  • Natural untreated Citrine bead- 10mm
  • Owls- 14x6mm
  • Silk Ribbon- once knotted gives an overall necklace length of 32 inches (80cm), which can be easily slipped over the head or knotted shorter to create a choker style necklace or anything in between.

✩What is “Top Down Knitting”? ✩

Top down knitting is the modern method of knitting in one piece from the top down, rather than creating separate panels and sewing together.

I confess to being a lapsed knitter, it has been many years since I knitted a jumper. I have never tried “Top Down” knitting. The reason why I initially made these stitch markers necklaces was because of a custom request from a friend as a gift for a knitter. Also inspired by the William Morris quote “Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful”, I’m happy that this necklace covers both those requirements.

These stitch markers are designed to be used over the needles and not clipped on to the wool, hence their closed loops.

✩Care of the Silk ribbon ✩

If necessary the ribbon should be washed by hand in cold/lukewarm water and mild silk detergent solution, then smoothed with your fingers and allow to air dry. Should the ribbon need ironing it can be carefully ironed by laying a piece of thin cotton over the top of the ribbon, on "silk" setting.

✩Citrine Mythology, Legends, Lore and History✩

The Citrine bead used is natural and non-heat-treated, which is quite a rare find (most Citrine start life as Amethyst which is then baked), hopefully that will make it even more special to you.

Citrine is a transparent, yellow variety of Quartz, ranging in colour from pale to golden yellow, honey or almost brown, and may contain rainbow or sparkle inclusions. The name comes from the French word citron, meaning lemon.

Citrine is said to energise every level of life. It cleanses the Chakras and opens the intuition. Citrine is said to attract wealth, prosperity, success and imparts joy, wonder, delight and enthusiasm. Raises self-esteem and self-confidence. Stimulates the brain, strengthening the intellect. Citrine promotes motivation, activates creativity and encourages self-expression. Enhances concentration and revitalises the mind. It releases negative traits, depression, fears and phobias. Emotionally balancing.

✩The hand photo✩

Meet Mephisto the measuring hand, he will help show you the rough scale of the jewellery. The hand is exactly the same size as my own hand (I’m an average UK ladies size 7 glove).
