The earrings in this section have pure Niobium ear-wires as standard (please see individual descriptions for dangle materials).
Niobium is a physiologically inert metal and thus hypo-allergenic. For this reason, Niobium is found in many medical devices.
Niobium can also be electrically heated and "anodized", resulting in a wide array of colours using a process known as reactive metal anodizing which is useful in making jewellery, its natural colour is a silvery grey. Anodising creates a thin oxide layer which is just as bio-compatible as polished titanium. There are no other materials added and there is no plating or painting.
Niobium is an excellent choice for anyone with sensitive skin, especially for those allergic to nickel, or the metals added to make 925 Sterling Silver or 9ct Gold alloys.
The name comes from Greek mythology: Niobe, is the daughter of Tantalus.
