Collection: Niobium

The earrings in this section have pure Niobium ear-wires as standard (please see individual descriptions for dangle materials).

  • Niobium is a physiologically inert metal and thus hypo-allergenic. For this reason, Niobium is found in many medical devices.
  • Niobium can also be electrically heated and "anodized", resulting in a wide array of colours using a process known as reactive metal anodizing which is useful in making jewellery, its natural colour is a silvery grey. Anodising creates a thin oxide layer which is just as bio-compatible as polished titanium. There are no other materials added and there is no plating or painting.
  • Niobium is an excellent choice for anyone with sensitive skin, especially for those allergic to nickel, or the metals added to make 925 Sterling Silver or 9ct Gold alloys.
  • The name comes from Greek mythology: Niobe, is the daughter of Tantalus.
